Biography

Paul Schaink was involved with the foundation of the Rechtshulp VU (university Legal Aid Society) in 1972 while still a student. After completing his studies, he continued to be active in social law practice until 1990. He was a prominent specialist in the area of asylum law, in relation to which he also held several supervisory functions. He joined Van Doorne in 1990 as a specialist in the area of employment law, an area in which we've come to increasingly focus on the state and educational sectors. He was on the editorial board of the journal 'Employment Law' (Arbeidsrecht) for six years. He has often acted as receiver and executor in cases of bankruptcy and suspension of payment and his efforts played a pivotal role in the development of this area of practice into our current, specialized Insolvency group. Besides work in the area of insolvency, he and the group's other specialists increasingly advise on re-organisation of companies and debt re-structuring. He also continues a limited practice in employment law.
