Biography
Els de Wind advises clients in the broad field of employment law, with a focus on reorganizations, M&A transactions and transfer of businesses, industrial relations and employee representation and all types of contracting (such as consultancy agreements for project and interim management), as well as on European and international employment law issues. She advises Dutch as well as foreign businesses and represents them in court. She also advises executives, mostly in dispute and dismissal situations.
She is an active member of Van Doorne's Outsourcing & Offshoring team and has been involved in all major outsourcing work dealt with in the firm. She is presently finalizing one the largest outsourcing projects in The Netherlands. She regularly speaks on transfer of businesses and outsourcing. She is also the author for the Dutch chapter in Prof. John McMullen's (UK) book on Business transfers and Employee Rights.
In 1999 Els set up the global network of employment law experts within the Landwell/PricewaterhouseCoopers organization and acted as Global Head of Employment for this network until 1 January 2004, when Landwell merged with Van Doorne. She has major experience in working in multidisciplinary teams, including pension consultants, tax experts and other HR specialists, and working with her peers abroad on cross-border projects.
Els de Wind is chair of the European Employment Lawyers Association (EELA). Els is also a member of the relevant Dutch employment law organizations, as well as the International Bar Association (IBA) and the American Bar Association (ABA). She regularly publishes articles and contributes to books and newsletters.
She is recommended by the Legal 500, European Legal Experts, Who'sWho Legal Management Labour & Employment and Global Counsel Handbook Labour and Employment Benefits.
Els is a member of the Board of Amsterdam Partners, a public-private venture which promotes the Amsterdam region in the Netherlands and abroad and of the Dutch Board of Humanity in Action, an organisation working to build global leadership, defend democracy, protect minorities and improve human rights.
Els is President of the Board of the Amsterdam Performing Arts Festival and Secretary in the Board of Humanity in Action Netherlands.
