Biography
Elisabeth Thole is a member of the Intellectual Property and Information Technology practice group of Van Doorne. Elisabeth specialises, in particular, in ensuring privacy compliance in organisations and she is head of the Privacy Team of Van Doorne. She is also an expert in the areas of IT contracts, e-commerce, outsourcing, open source and aspects relating to intellectual property rights. She advises in such areas as the processing of (special) personal data, the notification obligation, the transfer of personal data to third countries, privacy statements, data processing agreements, the processing of HR data, as well as the role of the works council, whistleblowing regulations, the monitoring of e-mail and Internet traffic and direct marketing campaigns.
Elisabeth completed her PhD in 1991 with the thesis “Software, een ‘novum’ in het vermogensrecht; Beschouwingen over de positie van het auteursrecht op software in het vermogensrecht” (Software, a Novelty in Property Law: considerations on the position occupied by software copyrights in property law). Independent international surveys recommend her as a ‘leading individual’ for Information Technology. According to Chambers Europe 2008: "Clients praise her as analytical, professional and thorough."
Elisabeth is a member of the Netherlands Association for Privacy Law.
